As soon as I had my breakfast my
mom wanted me to visit a temple. I am not such a great believer in God for but
odd times do come. We walked past the
nearest tree, which I feel has been providing shades to generations to discuss
about the politics, movies, hottest actress for sure and what not. We saw
couple of old gentlemen sitting and chewing beetle nut and spitting like they
never bother about “Modiji’s” Swachcha
Bharath abhiyan. I wonder whether these guys ever heard what our PM has to
say about health and cleanliness. I still remember what one of my friend said
when he visited Dubai first time about the street, malls, cars and most
importantly Russian Girls.
This temple was built way back in
1995 and still accommodates the God and Goddess whom people love at least once
in year when there is Dussara? Rest of the year they do not even bother about
the temple, they have a “poojari” ( A hindu name for Saint) a quiet drunkard who offers pooja everyday. I
believe “We really need someone to take all the blame for our wrong doings, or
we really need someone to listen when no one on this earth cares about you. And
We have god I do not know whether he is there or not” but for people he is
there.. Somewhere in the heaven and having fun with his all beautiful
goddesses. Have you ever thought for second what would have happened we had no
god at all, who would we blame for our misfortune and wrong deeds!!.. Alas that
would have been a disaster.....
Anyways my mom offered pooja,
there I saw two beautiful statues sitting quietly. I feel if we all donate the
amount of money we spend on God and Goddesses, we might eradicate poverty from
our country in a year. And the irony is the poor are the one who spend more
money on God. So who is making people poor, a point ponder about?
I hurried and came back home, I
sat quietly next to my grandpa. He was dozing off, and even when he was asleep
he had peace in his eyes and breathe. I can hear his heart beat as if I were a
doctor and checking the patient. I
always believed that if you want to learn then you need to have “Lot of
curiosity and clean ear”.. When I say clean ear, just listen do not use your
brain, do not think about the questions, problems, let the person speak just
listen with ear, body, mind and soul.
I paused... and tapped on my
grandpa’s shoulders and he got up. As soon as he was awake I questioned “Grandpa I was thinking about all that you
said and I have some questions to ask... May I?
He waited for a while and said “Go ahead”....
“If you think too much planning is a waste time”, and what advice would
you like give for those who wants to start their own organization? I stopped...
He smiled and said, I will be
back!! I knew his mouth was full of spit and he spat outside of our house. I
felt the earth felt little ashamed and changed the colour of soil to Red rose.
His lips and face were pink just like the bride.
He slowly walked back and sat on
his chair “Gundu, I do not know if I will do justice with the answer however I
will try and tell you what I know”. To start your own organization, first thing
you need is the Belief. Belief in your idea, in the team and lot of
passion to put that belief into practice”...... When you have belief in
yourself, your idea and your team, other things will fall in place. He
reckoned..
He cleared his throat as though
he is getting ready to a sing a wonderful song and continued. “Once upon a time in India, there was an old
king. The king was very ambitious ruler and wanted to win every war!! He went a
Sage in Himalaya’s and asked ... “Lord I have heard a lot about your wisdom and
the knowledge, so I have come here to learn from you. I want to know the secret
of winning every war I fight??
The wise sage “who was living
Himalaya was an intellectual and a godly man, he questioned the intentions of the
Kind after being satisfied with the intentions of the king. He answered.
There are Five things you should
know to win any war, and there are lot of secrets which I will share in the course
of our teaching I want you to pay attention.
The Commander or the leader:
The first and most important thing to win a war is to have a great
commander. If the commander is weak then the soldiers will be weak. If the
commander is strong and understand the art of war then he can win any war
without even fighting. “The noblest thing in winning war is not to fight and
win, but win without fighting the enemy”.
Now let’s understand how we can
use this in today’s world. If you want to start a great organization, we need a
great leader, a visionary. “A leader
who believes in changing the lives of people”. Remember we are not talking
about earning profit here; we are talking about changing the lives of people. A
leader with all the qualities, if the leader is strong the workforce will be!!.
If the leader is weak then the workforce will be weak!!. The morale of the
leader is transferred with or without knowledge. He paused.... and took a deep breath.
I was appalled to hear all these
things, I can recall when I read Sun Tzu’s “The art of war”. He mentions that a
commander is everything, if a commander
gives an order and soldiers do not fall. That means it’s the mistake of a
commander. I soon realised how some of the organization have lost their way
because of mean intentions. They never served the people; they believed that
making profit is the most important thing in business. They went away like
those withered feathers of a giant eagle.
To be continued.......
